My Father's Boots

These Combat Boots were issued to my father when he arrived for basic training at Fort Knox Kentucky in the Spring of 1963. In the spring of 1988 I purchased my first motorcycle and my father gave me these boots to ride in. He asked that I take good care of them, and showed me how to mink oil, polish and care for leather shoes... At that point they were 25 years old and soon after the heel on the left one came off... My girlfriend at the time had the heels replaced by a cobbler in Richmond, Ky. They have been across America on a motorcycle twice. Knocked about in the deserts of the American southwest, seen the streets of NYC, LA, San Diego and others... They have held up pretty well for a half a century.
